I did not measure my ceiling height so I was actually a little short for the full extension rod, but I was able to use only one rod and a little bit of a cardboard buffer to make it fit snug. It looks adorable! My cat isn't that much of a climber, I thought this product might help give him an opportunity. But my cat's afraid of getting higher than three tiers up on this cat tree. It does wobble a bit the higher you get. And as a few reviewers also mentioned, it's really easy to get claws stuck in the material used to cover the whole tree. The rope-wrapped scratching post at the bottom is awesome, though, and he loves to attack that, and having it be supported floor-to-ceiling does seem to make the scratching post extra durable. For the money, it's amazing. My cat has yet to sit on any of the platforms for any period of time without my company, and so I don't know if he finds it comfortable or would enjoy sleeping on it. For tree cats, I think this is a perfect, if slightly flimsy, piece of cat furniture.
