I was expecting a short but accurate retelling of the Arias/Alexander story since the writers both work for the The Associated Press and are highly experienced as both a reporter and editor.I was disappointed.I do believe that they tried to capture the essence of this horrendous murder but by releasing the book so quickly, they didn't portray a fully accurate picture of the sequence of events. They tended to jump around and repeat themselves much like Jodi did during her 18 days on the witness stand. At times I was confused about things that I had actually witnessed myself.I am waiting for a longer more thorough book about the people and events that made up this fascinating case and the obvious behavior of a sociopathic personality. Thus far, no one has fully captured a true picture of either Travis or Jodi and their personalities remain a puzzle in many aspects. This book proves that the first one out of the gate is not necessarily the winner. I look forward to Shanna Hogan's version ("Picture Perfect"), because she is taking the time needed to write a book about a case as complex as this one. ### ⭐⭐ See Jodi Kill. Kill, Jodi, Kill *by N***S on Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2013* I confess to not following the Arias trial when it was prime-time news. There is only so much high-profile crime a person can absorb -- I was still detoxing from Casey Anthony and trying to understand the Amanda Knox saga in Italy when the Arias case was tried. So when I looked for a basic overview of the case, this slender volume caught my eye. I read it without joy.There is little redeeming about the book. The authors are professional journalists, so they know how to right in clear, direct prose. But they never really warmed to the story they were telling. Even when they had the chance to shed light on interesting characters, such as the attack-dog tactics of the lead prosecutor in this case, they didn't. And the authors repeat over and over again that the case was loaded with kinky sex, but deliver declarative duds when describing the sparks that flew between Arias and her now dead lover. Reading this book about an emotional trial was like reading a fourth-grade primer on procreation -- everything is in the right place, but it just doesn't shake, rattle and roll.The book served its purpose. But it was published too soon. In the great rush to hit the market first, the book was published before the verdict in the penalty phase was rendered.Why the rush? I would have loved a little insight. What I read was a too quick account of a trial shorn of the sort of human content that makes trial a drama, rather than a series of events strung together with quotes from rock 'n roll artists and authors. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Like a Coles Notes of the Crime *by P***T on Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2017* This book gave a brief over-view concerning the killing of Travis Alexander by Jodi Arias. It did not go into a great deal of depth regarding her background, previous relationships, the trial or the crime itself.
