Review: Great generator for extended power outage - I ordered this because we are in a power outage. This generator has been running for the past 35 hours and is easily handling our power needs. Currently have the fridge and various phone and laptop chargers and lamp connected on one line all the time. Then, as needed, running the coffee maker, garbage disposal, toaster, microwave, washer, dryer, charing the backup sump pump, and will be trying the induction hot plate and dishwasher. It's very quiet and really fuel efficient. We have been able to get 11 hours on each tank of gas. Just did the first oil change at the 36 hour mark, the photo shows the shop rag with the oil that came out of the generator. It looked good with no shiny bits in it. Before filling the generator with oil I marked the oil bottle that came with the generator with a sharpie. I filled that bottle to the sharpie mark so I got the right amount of oil needed for the change. The generator also has a oil catch/guide so when you drain the oil it directs the oil out of the enclosure which is a really nice touch. It's only been a day and a half but really pleased so far. I knew it was a solid brand but I wondered if I could get away with purchasing this brand instead. The price difference was substantial and the reviews for this Generac were great. Man, I have been running this thing just for fun. It's soooo quiet. I used it to paint my fence which was far away from my power back at the house. It allowed me to plug the paint sprayer into it and it ran like a champ. I no longer use multiple extension cords. I plug one extension cord into the Generac and then swap my tools out as I need them. It's incredibly quiet and very fuel efficient. I don't feel like this machine exceeded my expectations and I'm glad I didn't spend that extra money on a Honda. This generator alone will not start the AC Compressor. It can run everything else in my AC including the fan, but not the cooling of the AC. My solution is to install a softstart to the AC, there are YouTube videos showing this generator able to start a 13,500 BTU AC when it has a softstart on it. **Q: Where is it made?** A: Made in China and is the same generator as the Pramac iq3500 in Europe. It is an excellent quality generator with very quiet operation. A little heavy so a dolly or wheel kit is mandatory. Im not sure why they decided to forgo the wheels as standard equipment. This has the same internals as the H.F. 3500 Predator down to the Hemi head 212cc engine made by loncin. **Q: What is the dB rating on this unit?** A: There is a European standard. <71db at 50 feet for “low” rated units an <73db for “high” rated units. Since most units are sold worldwide you would think they all meet this standard. In the US the National Park Service noise standard is <60db at 50 feet. Every now and again I like to go where power isnt avail. This generator is quiet even under a full load. In the video I turned on everything for a full power test. The window A/C is on high, electric heater on high, lights on (led) and fridge running. Its under a full load and you can stand right next to it and have a conversation.
