Grit is composed of tiny pieces of rock, like a very fine gravel, which are high in vital minerals to help break down and digest the food your birds eat. Some poultry and bird mixes come with grit already added, but if you feed your pet birds a food without it, it might be beneficial for them to have a small amount of grit provided close to their food source where they can peck at it naturally. This can be hugely beneficial to aiding the dietary requirements of budgies, canaries, finches, cockatiels, pigeons and poultry. Please note, we do not recommend grit as a dietary aid for parrots.
