That way no one accidentally closes the garage door on it. Review: Faulty Relay - I returned original set as the relay did not work. I received the second set to find the relay does not work. The transmitter is easy and little indicator LEDs show power. The receiver also has little LED indicator lights showing power and another indicator light turning on when blocked (from transmitter) and turning off when the path was clear from transmitter. I jumpered the +12v ac power to the COMmon terminal. I then used my multimeter to check and see the +12v ac as I moved in and out of the path from the transmitter. The 12v ac voltage never was seen on the NC terminal in either condition. The relay on the board is a small unit, but usually I would expect to hear a small click as it switches from closed to open. I am an electrical engineer and pretty much understand how all of this works. I bought two sets and almost returned them because I tested them with the transmitter and the receiver a few inches apart before I went to the effort of a full installation. They didn't work. I read online that some IR transmitter/receivers need to be at least 6ft apart to work.
