Storage: The 16GB internal storage works fine, though I use an SD card to store projects and samples. Battery Power: It can be powered portably using a myVolts Ripcord (USB to 12V DC) and an INIU 20000mAh mini power bank (65W). This setup is completely clean and introduces zero background noise or hiss. The Cons: Touchscreen & Hardware Flaw Touchscreen: The screen response is cool, but in my experience, I sometimes feel like I am pressing it a few times to select whatever it is on the screen I want. Volume Defect: The master volume knob has a severe component flaw. I heard the unbalance straight away as soon as I put my headphones on to test it out. At low volumes, the right audio channel rises significantly before the left channel even engages. I tested multiple replacement units through desertcart, and every single one had this exact same issue. Akai’s parent company (InMusic) claimed this stereo imbalance is "normal," which is unacceptable. Advice to Buyers desertcart’s customer service was very helpful with the multiple exchanges, but Akai's quality control is lacking. **Q: Why is this almost £100 more expensive on Amazon?**
A: When I bought it, it was on a deal and the cheapest place to get it.

**Q: Can you create midi files on it, so I can play them back on my roland vima**
A: Yes. You can export Sequences, single tracks and full songs as midi files.

**Q: Do i need a computer to use this?**
A: The answer is 'no' because the MPC range are standalone groove boxes on which everything can be done without the need to connect to a computer. On the other hand, the unit can be connected to a computer and can then be used as a hardware controller for the MPC software which can be installed on your computer from Akai and using the unit in this way it can sometimes be easier to see the bigger picture of what's going on with the music you're making with the unit. On a personal note, I am a Native Instruments 'Maschine' user and I tried the MPC for a workflow comparison and I simply could not get on with the MPC way of doing things and would recommend (if you definitely need a unit to be a standalone groove box) the 'Machine +'. Hope that helps you decide which way to go in your purchase.
