## Description

From the manufacturer Magigoo - 3D Printing Adhesive Pen First Layer Adhesion In FDM/FFF 3D printing first layer issues are one of the most common problems. A perfect first layer is vital to get a great foundation for the rest of the print. Your 3D print will probably fail or warp if it does not stick to the bed properly. In addition once a 3D print adheres well and prints successfully, it is vital to get it off easily without damaging the end result or the printer. Magigoo - your 3D printer friendly adhesive All you need for sure adhesion of 3D prints Magigoo is an easy to use 3D printing adhesive designed to address "the first layer not sticking problem". Magigoo ensures a strong adhesion to the hot plate. But the magic starts when printing is ready: just wait for the plate to cool down and then remove your prints with just a finger flick! In addition, Magigoo helps to prevent warping. Isn't it magic? Regardless of you being a hobbyist or professional - it is extremely rewarding to have a 30 hour print complete without any warping and having it release easily once cooled. Over 100 applications ABS, PLA, PETG, HIPS and more Easy application Easy release Easy clean No smell Non-toxic No additional tools needed Easy to transport Nicer print finish Designed for 3D Printing Easy Application Applying Magigoo is as easy as child's play. Just shake it like you mean it, press the nib against the build plate and get Magigoo flowing and spread it in a thin layer. Magigoo is easily cleaned with just water - Yes, really, Water. Easy Release Magigoo's adhesive properties are designed to release the 3D print once the build plate has cooled. You will hear a distinctive "crackling" sound during the cooling process. Once cooled, 3D prints can easily be removed without the use of tools or any excessive force. Long-Lasting Print and print and print some more. With one Magigoo 50ml bottle, you'll be able to apply over 100 adhesive layers. It's all-in-one Multi-Material Magigoo works with most commonly used plastic filaments such as PLA, ABS, HIPS, PET-G, and even some brands of Nylon. Just a little tweaking to find the best adhesion print settings for your printer, and your prints will come out perfect, every time. Odourless Magigoo is totally odourless. You won't be bothered by any strong smell; be it in a closed room or educational workshop with kids. Its odourless property makes it more enjoyable and practical to use. Non-Toxic The unique formula of Magigoo makes it safe to use for intended purpose. If there is skin contact just rinse with water and you will not transfer into any kind of monster.

Review: Works a treat - especially with ABS/PETG (also PLA) - Sometimes I just can't get my parts to stay attached to the bed, especially with PETG and ABS. Even with PLA, sometimes it just doesn't happen - especially when the contact area is small. This stuff works a treat, significantly increasing the chance of good first layer adhesion. It lasts for ages because it generally only needs a thin layer to be applied once and one can do lots of prints. Over time it needs reapplying - either straight on top, or wash off previous layer with a damp cloth (water soluble). It won't completely solve ABS/PETG warping issues, but it helps a lot - the bed adhesion can be so strong that the parts themselves break (layer separation) during printing rather than coming off the bed - and that's fixable with a soldering iron. Little tip - first use requires the seal to be broken by pushing the tip down onto a hard surface until it clicks. Also make sure the tip is nicely libricated with the liquid before trying to apply, otherwise you can damage the felt and then scratch your bed.
Review: Works like magic - I have been using this product for the past four months without any troubles at all. I mainly use it on the CR-10 with PLA and PETG and had no problems with adhesion. In fact the part sticks well on a hot bed during printing and then can be literally picked up from the bed after everything cools down, just like magic. I also use it on a Wanhao replicator 4s with ABS and I have had no problems with warping, as long as the bed was correctly leveled. Application is easy, I just followed the instructions, pushed the tip on the bed, I think there is some sort of bead in the tip which lets the magigoo flow out in a consistent manner. On the first time I squeezed the bottle a bit too hard and a little too much magigoo came out but I spread it evenly on the bed and printed with no problems, so one should avoid squeezing the bottle with a lot of force as it will probably make a mess. However this is not such a problem as the product can be literally wiped away with a wet cloth. Overall I would say that I am very happy with this product since I can print directly on glass with no hassle at all, I just apply, print, wait for everything to cool and take off the print. I also like that the product came with clear instructions on how to use.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: The sponge came off and it's only wafer thin. is it possible to get a replacement sponge or will a pice of cloth suffice?**
A: I doubt very much you’ll get a replacement sponge unless you mail them directly to ask, but a piece of cloth would do, alternatively buy yourself a cheap kids liquid glue pen from here or that auction site and just empty the contents and replace with the magigoo as both have applicator heads. Try the glue in the pen first before disposing it though by pouring a bit on the bed and just using your finger to smear it over so you don’t put anything through the applicator soIt remains clean ready for replacement. Worth doing as will most probably work just as well, if not better in my experience and 3 pens are only about £2.50

**Q: Does the glue degrade the surface finish of the print attached to the bed plate? The print will need post sanding anyway, so perhaps not an issue.**
A: This is not something we have seen before or flagged as an issue.

**Q: If I heat my bed to say 35C can the print still be easily removed after cooldown? i.e. Is there a minimum temp. that the bed needs to be heated to?**
A: You need to use the recommendations for the particular filament, i.e. for PLA 60ºC. The idea is that as the plate warms up the adhesion sticks the part to the plate. When your print has finished let the plate cool down, and the part comes straight off.

I did struggle with this to start with, but have since used it successfully with PLA.

**Q: Is to glue applied when the bed is hor or cold**
A: Cold works best but if your fast a hot bed is ok . The pad can stick to a hot bed .

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good print adhesive
*by M***S on 1 December 2018*

I have been using this product for several months now and all in all am pleased. I print in PLA and PETG. At the risk of sounding critical, I would not describe this product as "Magic" (as in Magigoo) as that implies it would work irrespective of anything that I might (or might not) do. It certainly doesn't "just" work and requires some effort to get good results. However, *everything* in 3D printing requires effort (experimentation) and nothing "just" works. The three things that seem to ensure success for me are: 1) Print head<->print surface gap. I seem to need a slightly smaller gap than I do with other print surfaces to ensure good adhesion. For example generally printing 0.2mm layers (with a 0.4mm nozzle) I find that a 0.18mm gap works best; printing 0.08mm and a 0.05mm gap works best. 2) Print surface cleanliness - I print onto a borosilicate glass sheet. According to the manual you only need a damp cloth to clean off the magigoo residue. It certainly does wash away with water but I found that unless the surface (glass sheet) was very clean then I got adhesion failures. I clean the glass-sheet with soap and water and dry thoroughly before re-applying magigoo. 3) Bed temperature - magigoo needs some form of heated bed to activate the <cough> "magic" but how much really varies with the material being printed and even the layer height! I found more variability in adhesion results depending on temperature than with other surfaces (e.g. PEI sheet). For example: printing PETG @ 0.2mm layer height and bed temperate needs to be 85C but printing at 0.08mm layer height and I need to increase bed temperature to 95C; printing Rigid Ink PLA and I can get away with a 40C bed temperature irrespective of layer-height! Basically, you need to experiment to find the best settings for your rig but once you do then it should give reliable and consistent results. The key questions: Would I buy this product again? Absolutely yes. Would I recommend this product to someone else? Yes (bearing in mind the need to experiment).
