Love it
Use this hojicha if you want mind-blowing hojicha lattes. It's easy to whisk and has the right amount of bitterness to match the milk. Haven't tried it yet, but I bet this hojicha would go great in desserts too!! I also want to recreate the Boba Guys Hojicha latte with the black sugar... sounds amazing.

Had to try it
I drink a lot of green tea, chai, and matcha, and someone had mentioned this to me. When I saw it online, I decided to give it a try. Easy enough to make and it smelled pretty good. I can't say I hated it, but not sure its 100% for me. Just a bit too much of an earthy taste for me. To me, its seemed kinda on the grassy/nutty side. Took some getting used to to finish. I did some reading and this is about how it should taste, but perhaps it was just a bit more bitter than what was described in my research.

Disappointing taste for the price
I recently tried the Organic Hojicha tea from Tea People and unfortunately, it didn't quite meet my expectations. While the tea is marketed as organic and of high quality, I found it to be quite expensive for what it is - just a 30g tin.Additionally, the taste was not as rich as I had hoped. The tea lacked depth and complexity, and the aroma was not as pronounced as I had expected. Overall, I was left disappointed with my purchase. While it may be worth trying for some tea enthusiasts, I don't think it's worth the price tag for most.

Quite earthy and smooth!!
I like drinking matcha and hojicha drinks, as well as flavored sweet treats, so I had no hesitation to try this. I also love Boba Guys' boba, so I was confident this would be a good quality tea. Matcha is great for its sweet aromatic flavor and its vibrant green color, while hojicha is also a green tea, except the leaves are roasted, which gives off a sweeter and smokier flavor. This 30 g tin is quite small, and after making 5 drinks so far, I have a little less than 2/3 of the volume. In general, I like to drink hojicha as a milk tea. I scoop a generous amount in a mug, pour in a little bit of boiled water, and use a bamboo whisk to break down the powder (which is so fine and will dissolve completely). Just as a side note (coming from a former barista), make sure you whisk in a zig-zag or "W" shaped motion, not circular. You want to see tiny little bubbles pop up. I personally use Torani vanilla syrup, which I can get from any major grocery store, but a better brand for making drinks is probably Monin (if you have the opportunity to choose). I whisk it again, then I pour my milk of choice (nutty milk, like oat or almond, go really well with hojicha), either hot or cold (add ice, if cold) then enjoy.Even though this powder dissolves easily, it eventually settles, so I generally swirl around my mug while drinking (but the darker taste at the bottom doesn't really bother me anyway). I'm thinking that this will probably taste similar to the ones from Boba Guys if you use it as an ingredient for a brown sugar boba drink. But anyway, I would highly recommend this to milk tea lovers to enjoy at home or to gift. I'm now looking to see if they sell a gift set. If not, I'm considering on buying another tin (and the tin design looks modern and high end) to make my own gift set including a whisk, syrup/honey, and tea cup.

product has a lead warning on the lable
I did not try this tea due to a "consuming this product can expose you to lead" warning label on the side. I'd avoid purchasing this product

Not my cup of tea
I like trying new teas, especially if they have certain health benefits. But this one was not good. Taste like licking a 3-day old fish. If you know and like this taste then it is easy to mix and drink. Just know what you're getting yourself into.

Smooth & rich, EZ to prepare many different ways (I like it w/sugar & regular milk over ice)
This is an interesting take on tea -- I drink a lot of it, and over the past few years, I have started to explore different varieties beyond my favorite black teas. This is only the second brand of hojicha tea that I have tried, and at first I wasn't sure I really liked it. I guess it is a bit of an acquired taste, at least for me. I also thought it was a bit of a hassle to make at first (at least compared to just pouring hot water over tea leaves). But I do like it once in a while and it is actually very easy to make. Plus, it is fun to try preparing it in various ways and with different types of milk. I like it with regular milk as an iced beverage best. It is rich, dark and very smooth. It has a nutty, toasty flavor with a hint of something that is almost like cocoa but not quite. It is just slightly sweet, so I do add sugar. I like all of the teas from Tea People that I have tried and the packaging is quite nice, too. I like the charming tin this tea comes in. It is a bit pricey, but nice for an occasional treat.

Indulge in Earthy Sweetness
I recently tried Tea People's Hojicha and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by the taste. As someone who typically finds tea to be too bitter, I appreciated that this Hojicha had very little bitterness. Instead, it had a delightful earthy taste that I enjoyed. One thing I particularly liked about this tea is that it pairs well with both milk and sugar. I found that brown sugar complemented the tea's flavor better than white sugar, but that's just my personal preference. The flavor is strong enough to be noticeable, but not so overpowering that it dominates the taste of the milk or sugar.I decided to use the Hojicha to make milk tea and it was absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend this tea to anyone who enjoys a strong, earthy flavor with a hint of sweetness. Overall, I would give Tea People's Hojicha a solid four stars.
