I wanted to keep Windows on my iMac for a time as I use Photoshop extensively and couldn't justify the cost of another platform version. I also knew I didn't need Parallels to do this but read up on how easy this made the switch for me and importantly how easy afterwards it was to switch between the two. It was! I can now switch almost seamlessly between the two systems, and have them both running at the same tine if I want. Both share each others files. Thos exclusively for Windows are marked as such with a Parallels logo. Sweet. There IS I noticeable slow down in Windows but the trade-off is ease and practicality and as the Mac is faster anyway than my 5 year old Dell, its still better than running Windows natively. Just be sure to follow the on-screen instructions carefully. The video tutorials are also excellent. And the Amazon purchase is significantly cheaper as well! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars If you are moving from PC to Mac - Think Twice *by T***F on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 September 2013* I have recently bought my first MacBook Pro, well in fact my first Mac.I thought this version would help me move across to the MacBook Pro from the Windows 7 laptop PC I had. My Windows PC was pretty full, but after a bit of housekeeping I was told there was room to transfer it across. After a 12 hour session Parallels Desktop crashed out not even warning me that a virtual disk file of some 349Gb was left hidden on the MacBook disk. I didn't discover this until a few days later when the Mac warned me I was running out of disk space.That said I am very happy with the Parallels Desktop itself. It does a great job of running my Windows 7 software and the applications I am not ready to replace with Mac versions.So buy the Parallels software, but think twice about the Move to Mac version. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Don't do it. *by A***N on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 May 2013* I needed to replace my PC and there is too much choice about what to buy so I was seduced by Apple advertising and after years as a window user I bought a new iMac. This software is supposed to seamlessly integrate between the mac and windows. I transferred files from my old machine at lease 5 times - each transfer takes several hours and sometimes it gives up two thirds of the way in so I had to start again.Not one to give in easily, I spent days trying to get this to work, hours on the Parallels forum trying to get to the bottom of BSOD issues. Fixed that eventually when I came across a post about a simple configuration change. Currently I have windows running in a partition on the mac but can't cut and paste between the two operating systems. In my first couple of attempts to transfer from my old PC to the mac, Windows seemed to run okay but all those attempts crashed. Now finally I have Windows running but it says it is not an authentic copy. Apparently this can happen if windows was preloaded on the original PC. It prompts for a new product code each time I load up but so far hasn't refused to start. However, I try not to close parallels just in case.Oh and did I mention that I had to buy a CD reader to plug in to the mac to get windows working againThe product comes with support. So I logged the problem I was having with parallels and their response was that I didn't have the right type of support. aaaaahhhhh!I've persevered for three months and I can't stand it any longer.
