I bought them specifically as a cold weather motorcycle boot and as a general work boot around my mostly wooded 8 acre property. I have gone through all the Wal-Mart/Kohl's varieties of work boots and none of them could keep my feet warm in the cold like these. I ride in 20-30 degree weather to work at speeds around 80mph and these things keep my feet feeling awesome. After a few minutes I can feel the cold trying to seep in at highway speeds, but I have never even contemplated wearing a second pair of socks with these if that tells you anything. And when I have something to do around my property I put these and a pair of jeans on before I step out (summer or winter) without a second thought.Now that isn't to say these are right for everyone. The one major weakness I found is that water can and does seep in quickly if you get it over the laces (e.g. step in a deep-ish puddle and your feet will get damp, stand in it for more than a second and you may as well as have left your boots in the house). They also collect mud pretty quick, but that is a failing of work boots in general.If you like to keep your boots looking nice then you definitely don't want to work in these. They scuff and scratch pretty easily when you put them to work (might be something to do with the material being close to a microfiber feel on the outside). They also collect a visible layer of dust in about 1/10th of a second after stepping outside - at least the black version does anyway.But I didn't buy them to just look nice, so I am a happy customer.Edit: Oh, and these things are like ninja boots or something. They nearly silent. I never realized how much I appreciate that until I heard some workmen in my office building clomping around in the hallway. I kind of thought that they would just be trendy, stylish boots that don't really serve for work. I WAS WRONG. Those boots ROCKED. Super comfortable and lasted a very long time. I am a contractor so my boots get a workout. I could not find the same boot again locally. But, then I am not a big shopper. I had bought several pairs since. The last pair were Timberland boots. Man they are awful. So, I decided to go on line and see if I could find another pair of Lugz. I did. They were not quite as inexpensive as the first pair. But, certainly not pricey either. I have worn these boots for a solid couple of months now. They are SUPER, way comfortable, and seem to be wearing great. I have always worn 9D boots. That is what these are. They fit great. I would recommend them for a real work boot.As a final review. I am about to order another pair. Checked to see when I ordered last pair. It has been exactly a year. Great service from a comfortable boot. Like them because they are light as a sneaker, and always lasted a long time and look great too. But recently, there quality seems to be not as good as years ago. I even tryed the ballistic drifter and them where terrible. Hard to find the regular lugz drifter mid....but very expensive for quality slacking. They just look more cheaply made. Can tell from having these for so long every year.
