This yoga mat seems very similar to the gym mats, except it was slightly thicker, much softer, and didn't smell like other peoples' body odor!There are two reasons I'm giving this three stars instead of five:1. The purple color was quite different from the original listing, and the color was almost the sole reason I purchased this specific yoga mat. The listing made the purple color look as if it was a Jam/Boysenberry/Mulberry (see attached picture for color reference); however, what I received was a Purple/Violet.2. The strap that is included is difficult to use. It's super easy to attach to the mat, but it slides all over the place and makes it difficult to carry as a result.3. The mat compacts very easily and ends up being very, very thin (I'm 115lbs, so weight isn't the issue), and takes quite a while to pop back up. This was making it a little uncomfortable for my knees during certain yoga poses. The mat is very soft and pliable, so I'm guessing this is why (if the mat were harder/more stiff, it wouldn't compact so easily, but then it wouldn't be as soft and comfy, so it's a trade-off).Bottom-line: The quality of the mat was better than I expected for the low price-point, and I'm pleased with this purchase overall. I even use this at home for doing stretches. I've even used this for at home pilates stretching. This mat is great on my cement floors as it doesn't slip. Is comfortable when it comes to laying down stretching but I can still feel the floor underneath me. However, I'm more concerned about it not slipping out from underneath me and this mat doesn't do that. Even when it comes to moving while in med stretch, the mat doesn't move. Plus it goes back to its original state when done.
