The cables supplied in the box are not CAT 6 gigabit ethernet cables but CAT 5e which may give faster than 100 megabits speed but it is not certain and there may be one thing to look at. Also you need to wire up the whole home network with CAT 6 to get the best out of the network.2 - The plugs do work when put into gangs of four etc and possibly even with surge protection but this also will cut the speeds dramatically so plugging them directly into the wall is a must. I know it is a pain a lot of the time but I have tested it with these and I got a huge boost when I got them into the wall.3 - The devices you are connecting to may say Gigabit but for things like NAS etc they still will have a maximum speed that they can work and unless you are running SSD drives you may only see a fraction of the stated speed the HDD inside a NAS or another device may be slowing down the home network.4 - A home network can still have a lot of devices on it and the router may not be allocating all the speed to which activity you would like it to. (I have seen my NAS go from 100 megabit to 300 megabit) and it has no rhyme or reason why the router is doing it.5 - Your house wiring may in fact be in a circuit that goes from the sub station to several houses before it goes back to the sub-station and so the scale of the wiring may be a lot bigger than you think and so interference from the wiring may be a lot bigger than you think.So all in all a very good product, which also now runs with encryption just in case your neighbours could pick up on your signals and I have certainly seen a huge jump in speed over the 200mega bit plugs but I also went and used CAT6 cable and bought gigabit switches as well. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars At first I was happy with this but my first one failed after 6 ... *by T***T on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 May 2017* At first I was happy with this but my first one failed after 6 months, and worked intermittently or not at all. I got that one replaced. However even when working it would drop the connection every so often for 2-5 mins. This really starts to become annoying after a time. I was forced to connect up my pc directly to my hub by the failure of the second unit, at which point I noticed a significant boost in my internet speed. I was getting about 27Mbps when I connected through this device but was getting 37+Mbps connecting directly to my hub via ethernet cable. I knew it was slower connecting via this device but I was surprised by how much. I know some of the factors here could be related to the condition etc of my ring main, and so for me, I would now only regard this as a temporary solution to connection from a room not properly connected to a hub. I will now try to get a third device but its not a simple matter through Amazon, as after a time the return item link vanishes. I will then think about laying permanent ethernet cable to where I need it before that unit possibly fails too.So in summary OK when it works if speed is not super critical, flaky electronics giving rise to possible failure, temporary fix - get a real Ethernet connection if possible. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars The first ones I ever bought were Devolo and even at that time they were more expensive but came with good software and just worked *by D***D on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 July 2017* I have had many Powerline adapters over the years. The first ones I ever bought were Devolo and even at that time they were more expensive but came with good software and just worked. As the kids got older and the need for streaming around the house increased I have tried various other brands with variable amounts of success. After a bad experience with a set of BT adapters I thought lets go back to the ones that worked before. I have not regretted that decision. These adapters literally just work. Plug them install the software, configure a password and that's it. They have now been plugged in for a number of months. One is supplying the connection for a Ubiquiti WiFi access point and has worked perfectly and seamlessly. It seems that with Powerline adapters you do get what you pay for, unless of course you buy BT in which case you get expensive rubbish. I have learnt my lesson and will stick with Devolo from now on.
