Box, insert and lancing device. Review: So Much Better Than the One That Came With the Monitor - I have been a type one diabetic for 50 years so blood tests are mandatory. The lancet that came with my blood sugar monitor was very cranky, eventually broke so I bought this, expecting more of the same. But no, this works really well. Can set it (and this works) to the 'strike' depth you need (I am lucky, blood is well supplied to my fingers), so discomfort is massively reduced compared to the old one. This is important because it means less bruising (only thing I can call it) as sometimes i have to do quite a lot of blood sugars. Wish i had purchased it years ago. And only £5 too, I was sure it would be badly made but it isn't at all. Much better quality than the one that came with the monitor. Would highly recommend it. Review: Internal parts are poor, no eject device, have to pull the lancet out by hand, shoddy. - I found that the lancets I have will fit, however the internal part of the device is very wobbly and likely to snap with use, particularly as there is no release mechanism to push the lancet out. The top does not unscrew like all the others I have used, just a small twist and it comes off. It also comes off when you don't want it to. If you are unfamiliar with using a device or are a bit clumsy the centre spindle will break very quickly. One false move and it will be off which is very likely as you have to pull hard to remove the lancet, manually. As with all new devices, it is very powerful, but even on the lowest setting it is far too strong so if you have smaller fingers or skin that is unused to being punctured it is painful to use. These things tend to lose their 'spring' after a while so starting on a low setting works fine and is comfortable but with this one the low setting is already at 'ouch'. The entire thing is badly designed and poor quality. All bits move so if you're not feeling too good or low blood sugar it's a little fiddly to get apart to put Lancet in and top back on. Hope it lasts.
