## Description

DVD Special Features Behind The Scenes Documentaries Derailed: Anatomy of a Train Wreck and On The Run With The Fugitive Feature Length Audio Commentary By Tommy Lee Jones and Director Andrew Davis All-new Introduction with the film's stars and creators Interactive Menus Scene Access Trailer Languages in Dolby Digital 5.1: English, French, Italian Subtitles: English, French, Italian, Dutch, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Romanian, Bulgarian, English for the hearing impaired, Italian for the hearing impaired The Fugitive could have been just another action movie, compelling in the cinema but losing impact on the small screen, were it not for two things: it has a brilliant script and a very strong line-up of actors. When eminent surgeon Dr Richard Kimble is wrongly convicted of his wife’s brutal murder (let’s face it--his story about doing battle with a one-armed intruder is hardly plausible), he's sentenced to death. Fate, however, gives him a second chance when his prison bus is involved in an accident with a train and he escapes, determined to find the real killer and clear his name. Hot on his heels is the relentless, wise-cracking Sam Gerard, a marshal with a mission. The two stars, Harrison Ford (Kimble, kooky beard and 47 shades of anguish) and Tommy Lee Jones (Gerard, for which he deservedly won an Oscar) not surprisingly steal the show with their battle of wits and muscle. It's a rapport that develops as the film progresses, and is both complex and fascinating--no facile goodie versus baddie scenario here. And the essential slime factor comes from Kimble's sinisterly suave friend, Dr Nichols (Joroen Krabbé superb). Great story, brilliantly done; altogether, a breathlessly enthralling two hours. On the DVD: The Fugitive special edition features a commentary from director Andrew Davis, introducing characters and offering background insight, plus a three-way phone conversation between Davis, Ford and Jones on their experiences of the movie. There's also detailed commentary on how the spectacular train crash was set up and the endless saga of perfecting the script. Also, the usual scene selections, theatrical trailer, choice of languages (English, French and Italian) and a broad choice of subtitles. A pretty impressive package overall.-- Harriet Smith

Review: Running Out Of Ideas! - Harrison Ford (born Horris Frump, but changed the name as another actor with this name already existed) plays fugitive Doctor Richmond Winkler. Winkler is on the run from the law after accidently killing his wife while playing croquet. (Winkler hits his ball so hard, it bounces off a wall and knocks the wife out cold. She doesn't die from this, but it is when Winkler carries her back into the house, he carelessly drops her body into their pond en route, where she swallows a koi carp and duly chokes to death.) Ford is used to playing men on the run. The little discussed straight to video 'The Man Who Ran At A Leisurely Pace' was a notorious box office flop, thanks largely to the man in question being caught by the law in the first ten minutes of the film. The rest of the film focusing on him filling in legal forms failed to excite audiences. The Fugitive is a fun film full of twists and turns and breathtaking stunts. There is one scene where Ford jumps onto a fast-moving tram. For me, the best part of the film is where Ford dons all manner of disguises to hide from the law. Dressing up as a woman to attend an all female sycronised swimming class and later pretending to be a lamppost by arching his back carefully, these disguises are executed superbly. The guy on the tail of the fugitive is wisecracking sheriff Tim Curry, who brings a delicious camp charm to the part. It is such a shame that he is only used in two scenes and has just two lines 'Where are you hiding Richmond?' and 'Oooh there you are!' What makes this so interesting is that our fugitive is visually impaired and also has a false leg, which means he limps everywhere, frequently crashes into things and makes him stand out like a sore thumb in crowds. Ford plays this with sensitivity and charm. When the film finished I rushed out to buy all the merchandise, including the two available action figures (The Fugitive figure was fun, but there was less play value with 'Man Who Thinks He Has Seen Fugitive In Shop' figure).
Review: Well packaged - Great film that arrived on time in perfect condition.

Great film that arrived on time in perfect condition.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ There's An Improved NEWLY-ISSUED All-Region Blu-Ray for this Great Film !
*by M***S on 19 July 2015*

- I'm sure many will know lots about this fantastic action flick. *** BUT what you might not know is that you don't have to accept the rather shoddy treatment it got on the initial-issue Blu-ray which is STILL sold in the UK. It has been re-issued as a '20th Anniversary Edition' with improved AVC MPEG-4 video encoding, a thumping DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack and additional extras. It is an ALL-Region Blu-ray which although only released in the USA can be bought quite-readily on Amazon; here's the link to it on Amazon : Fugitive: 20th Anniversary [Blu-ray] [1993] [US Import ] I've also attached a photo of the disc box outer so you can see it in all it's glory ! The additional extras are : 1. The Fugitive: Thrill of the Chase" documentary [HD] (28:21) 2. "The Fugitive" 2000 TV pilot [HD] (45:28) It also has a wider range of subtitles/language soundtrack options : English SDH, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian SDH, Croatian, Czech, Greek, Hungarian, Korean, Mandarin (Simplified), Polish, Russian, Thai, and Turkish English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 Spanish Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround Italian Dolby Digital 5.1 Portuguese Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround Czech Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround Hungarian Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround Polish Dolby Digital 5.1 Russian Dolby Digital 5.1 Thai Dolby Digital 5.1 So, wait no more - get that newer Blu-ray to enjoy this movie at it's best and in all likelihood cheaper than the crummy UK Blu-ray !
