I got this for my husband as a Christmas present to go with the shop vac that I bought him last year. Unfortunately, he never used the shop vac until he needed to try this tool out.He used this on both our bathroom sink and on the tub. He said the sink was easy to clear. The tub was another story. He said he was able to pull up a large wad of hair but due to the formation of the drain (the cross bars or whatever they are called about an in or so down in the drain prevented the wad from being sucked all the way out), he had to really work to get the hair out. He eventually got it all out and now the water drains great. Thanks to this tool and our powerful shop vac, we saved a lot of money by not having to call a plumber.I just wished I would have bought this tool last year when I was looking for attachments for the shop vac I bought. Last year I added it to my wishlist but held off buying any attachments until my husband tested the shop vac out. He plugged the shop vac in Christmas day and said it almost sucked up the living room carpet then he never used it again. I needed something else to buy him for Christmas this year and saw the Drain Hero on my wishlist and decided for the price, it didn't hurt to try it out. If only I would have gone ahead last Christmas and bought it. We did have a plumber come in the spring. I could have saved myself $100 if I would have bought it last Christmas!And thanks to the Drain Hero my husband finally used his shop vac! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sucks in a good way *by N***O on January 14, 2014* update 7-15: drain started to slow down again more than a year after the original "treatment." Did it all again and once again the problem is fixed. Just go ahead and buy the thing--for the price you really can't go wrong. If it works for you then you've solved your problem with no nasty chemicals and can redo the fix as needed. Remember to cover the overflow drain otherwise you get much less suction down the main pipe.Our shower drains have always been a problem. We occasionally pour some drain cleaner, but I hate the chemicals and always worry it will damage the pipes in our older home. Found this item kind of randomly and decide to try it given how inexpensive it was. Tried it tonight for the first time--worked amazingly well. Sucked up a ton of nasty stuff from the drain. Stinks pretty bad from some of the sewer gas, I guess. Had to spend some time with a chopstick getting some of the hair/gunk unstuck from the drain crosspiece, but eventually got it all sucked out. Ran some hot water and sucked out a bit more. Took a shower, ZERO standing water, compared to the 4-5 inches that would often build up before. Who knows how long it will last, but even with a small shop-vac, this did the job, and wouldn't be too hard to do every couple of months. Not as easy as drain cleaner, but pretty straight-forward, if a bit yucky. Results are very good. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for cleaning out blocked tub drain *by E***D on January 5, 2013* Drain hero works great. I have a bath tub drain that clogs easily and runs slow. Pipe is 1 1/4 inch way too small by today’s codes.I was using cup of bleach once a month, then resorted to drain cleaners. You name it brand I tried it. They worked but I didn’t know what damage I was doing to pipes in a 1950’s built house.Next time the tub drain slowed down I attached the drain hero to the shop vac. I closed off the vent, I used a sandwich bag I taped over whole face of overflow and when suction started this made a great seal.Drain Hero was easy to use. I used one extension so I didn’t have to get down on my knees. Turned vacuum on and it sucked up the remaining water. Creating a nice vacuum on the system and freed the problem.I keep the Drain Hero under the sink, storage area where I can find it when I need it again.
