I'm a jeweller of 25 years and felt there wasn't much I would be able to learn. Why did I buy it then? I was a little stuck in a rut after making traditional jewellery for so many years and now I wanted to do something a little fresher.I was pleasantly surprised. The book is richly illustrated and covers everything from the basics to more advanced techniques. I would have liked a little more technical information, but I am pretty fussy.What did I get from the book? A fresher perspective, new ideas. One thing this book does really well is re-set your thoughts on what a setting is and how it functions. From there you can start afresh and produce some great pieces. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Setting 101 *by S***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 January 2018* Amazing book, my mum and I are both very into jewellery making at the moment so I got this for us to both use. We both find it very helpful, we often refer back to it. The techniques presented are very clear and foolproof. I would love the author to create another book with some more advanced techniques at some point but this book is enough for you to get started and to then get creative and develop your own skills. Thanks again Amazon. The stone section is not only informative, it gives similar stones - so , you read about the qualities of an emerald for instance, she lists everything you need to know, and then list stones that closely resemble emeralds! I was ripped off with an emerald that was not an emerald, so I value this information. CAD is explained, settings of every type are detailed but easy to follow, with great tips. There are loads of design ideas and cold connections as well as soldered ones. I am VERY glad I bought this book. The photos and drawings are very clear.
