Review: Cooled my problem right down! - I must say I was hopeful, yet a teeny bit skeptical about this purchase; 1) because it was borderline on being more than I wanted to spend on something that might not solve my problem; and 2) because I had become crazy with frustration as my laptop continued to heat up and then shut down (a safety feature) while I was in the middle of my projects! ## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does laptop rest straight or tilted on this pad? Laptop slips if it rests titled?**
A: It rests flat on it but the pad makes the laptop be elevated a bit but it does not fall for me. And there is the edge that will stop it from slipping

**Q: When does the fan turn on?**
A: It should turn on as soon as you plug in the USB.  If it's not, the USB port might not be getting power for some reason, or it's just broken, like mine is.  And honestly, it works almost as well without the fan.

**Q: Can I use this product with a netcam that gets hot?**
A: Are you talking about something like a Dropcam?  I don't think those have an air intake so I don't know that resting such a cam on this cooling pad would help.  I've never heard of one of those cams getting hot, though.  Maybe just elevate the cam above the surface so air can circulate around it.

**Q: Would this be a proper solution if my internal fan is no longer working and would use this instead? I am trying to refrain from having to get a new 1**
A: That depends if you are planning to retire your computer in the near future. This is a great product,but it isn't that expensive to drop in a new fan, The Belkin Cool Spot isn't suppose to replace the internal fan.

This is a great cooling pad! I am totally satisfied with my purchase! My laptop kept overheating and turning itself off, so I knew I needed to get something quick. I really like the design with a lip on the front so my laptop stays in place, and the fan is pretty quiet too. The only thing I would change about it would be to add something softer on the bottom so you can place it in your lap comfortably. I keep mine on a lap desk since it is not the most comfortable design.

It makes a very quiet purring hum as it cools my new 2017 Macbook. It is also very aesthetically pleasing, as all Belkin products are. I got this at a great price from Amazon, and I wanted to purchase a well known, good quality brand. I was shocked to see that this Belkin Cooling Pad was far more affordable than other unknown brands. It was an instant buy! The only thing I wish (but this is not a problem with the Cooling Pad, so much as it is a problem with my 2017 Macbook 12") is that the new Macbook, although extremely beautiful and light and powerful, does NOT come with any ports. Only the one port (USB-C?) for charging. So I cannot charge & cool this laptop at the same time because this Cooling Pad runs by plugging into a USB port. I use my laptop almost all day at work, and then when I'm home to watch TV, check emails, browse the web, etc. And often, I stream TV shows online while I lay in bed at night (with some wine!) and on my duvet or on a pillow, the laptop gets VERY hot and my Macbook gives me a notification that I should close certain applications to prevent over-heating. So after getting a dozen of these notifications in the last week, I knew that I needed to invest in a good quality cooling pad. This is GREAT for your lap, on your bed or couch, or anywhere that the ventilation is slim to none. This product works GREAT and I recommend it for anyone in the market for one, or needs something for the same problems I have.
