In zone 5 (SWNY) I have successfully used old bed sheets, blankets and old curtains (from thirft shops or lawn sales) to protect from frost. I have not tried the product for frost protection and would not risk the loss of crops/plants just to find out. Product is very thin and is made to let water and sunlight through.
