Great item
It takes a bit of practice, but once you get the temperature just right ( rolling boil ) they cook great. Not had any leak out the sides, as other reviews said. Happy with this and easy to use. Only negative is the water line ~~~ on the inside, could do with being a different colour, so it's easier to see.

Best Of The Poaching Gadgets **Plus Trouble-Shooting Tips**
I've tried all sorts of egg poachers, and this is the best of them, without a doubt. It comes closest to the traditional egg poaching method, and provided you use your brain, it works well. It's easy to clean and folds down to store in your kitchen drawer, too.The traditional method to poach an egg is to simmer a pan of water and whisk it round rapidly to create a vortex of water. You drop your egg in the middle and the vortex keeps it together long enough for it to congeal. The silicone cone of this OXO product replaces the vortex and does a similar job of containing the egg in the centre of your pan, under water. With both of these methods the one thing that's vital to know is that the fresher the egg, the better the result. Fresh eggs are nice and thick, so stay together. Old eggs are very watery and runny and are not suitable for poaching - this is one of the problems behind all the negative reviews saying the user ended up with egg soup. The other is their water being too hot: you want a light simmer, not a rolling boil, which will pull the egg white apart.CONCLUSIONIs this, or any other egg poaching device necessary? No - the vortex method is just as simple, and cheaper. But if you can't be bothered to learn the satisfyingly fun skill of whisking water and poaching eggs the traditional way, it's a neat product, and the best of the gizmo's on offer.

Perfect poached eggs
Use vinegar, a very low simmer and fresh eggs. 3 mins on the timer + 20 seconds off the heat. Seems to be fail proof!

Too big for the job
I wish I hadn't bothered to get this - nothing wrong with it other than really it's just too big to get much use out of it. I do have a very large frying pan for when all the family are here, and I don't even find it easy to use with that. The normal sized turners are much more usable. I actually got it to help flip pancakes, i thought the big surface would be an asset but its far too big and inflexible to use with those smaller pans. Its useful for scooping stuff off baking trays though and I guess thats what I'l use it for more than anything. But really a complete waste of money for me. And I did check the measurements first and thought it would be ideal, but it's just too difficult to get it under the edge of anything in a smaller pan, especially pancakes! So my advice is to measure very carefully before you purchase! It's huge to store with similar utensils too, I have to keep it in my frying pan drawer and hate it every time I see it there, reminding me of what a waste of money it was! Perhaps I need more practise. I'll add another review if things improve!

Not bad.
The handles a little shorter than ideal, and the "slipperiness" of the silicone blade takes a little getting used to, but all in all it's perfectly usable. The blades got a nice amount of flex to it, that means you can press it to the side of the frying pan to make it conform to the curve and slip down the side of, for example, an omelette, which has never been an option on any of the previous wide spatulas I've had.So while not perfect, it's still a pretty good utensil.

Not the next solution to poached eggs
Nope. Followed instructions and whites leaked out underneath straight away leaving a cloudy water mess where I could barely see what I was lifting out. Disappointed and will be returning.

At last, easy poached eggs
Really great gadget for making poached eggs. Put them in a deep pan and fill with water up to the wavy line marks on inside of poachers. Crack the eggs into a ramekin ready for poaching. When water has proper bubbly boiled turn the heat down to a simmer. Gently pour the eggs into the poachers and set timer for 3.5 minutes (this results in a slightly runny yolk with a properly cooked white). Remove eggs from poacher using a perforated spoon, put on a double wad of paper towel to drain excess water. No need to add anything to the water. They clean up really easy and fold into themselves for space saving storage. Highly recommend these.
