It's intuitive and easy to set up without having to read the instructions. However, I have knocked a star off because of the design - the dial sticks out a good centimetre from the plug holes, meaning that some wall-wart style adaptors will not fit. My Christmas lights only fit if I pull the plug out of the unit slightly, which is obviously not ideal. They could easily have solved this by extending the plug hole section so that it's flush with the dial. Easy enough to set but need to be well illuminated to ensure the pegs are properly depressed as it is easy to leave them 'half down'. They lose a star because they are somewhat noisy, making a strange chattering noise which might disturb occupants of a bedroom. Doesn't worry me as I am deaf anyway - one of the few advantages !
