When the “Van Hagar” vinyl box set was released, there were a ton of complaints about the quality of the pressings, especially the For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge one. Because of that, I never bothered to get it. When this one was announced, I was hopeful they’d get it right. I’m happy to say they nailed it. First, spreading it over three sides was the right call. Trying to cram this much music onto two sides rarely sounds good. The remaster itself sounds great. Lots of punch and dynamics. And Michael Anthony’s bass is a lot more prevalent than other versions I’ve heard. Vinyl is also flat and quiet. Honestly, I don’t need the extra CDs. But for the price I got this at, it was too good to wait for a vinyl only release. The box it all comes in is really well done too. It’s made well, with lots of photos and a cool insert booklet. So if you want this album on vinyl, with the extras, definitely grab this.
