These are made from your garden variety polypropylene, PP. These are colored plastic and not painted or colored with inks, so no concern for lead or heavy metals. Phalates are generally added to soften plastics, so not used in the PP or they would have trouble molding the gators. I am not the manufacturer so I cannot say indefinitely however, as an engineer who uses plastics for work, it would be extremely unlikely for these items to be used to make the gators. **Q: Are these self correcting? For example, does letter A only fit on the other half with the lower case "a"?
