The Fluke 3000 I have tone seems to get drowned out when tracing a cable that's already patched into a switch is this the same?** A: This is to be expected with any analog toner, such as the 3000, due to how the ethernet jack is connected inside the networking device. However, Flukes that have the "intellitone" feature will work in that scenario, as the intellitone is a digital tone.
