In my entire lifetime I have never heard any music as great, fantastic or beautiful as this CD. Mr Hamlisch has created a Masterpiece. The CD covers the full spectrum of sounds. It could be used to judge any audio-file sound system for quality. I advise getting this CD while you can! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Little Sting That Doesn't Hurt a Bit *by E***R on January 22, 2010* For catchy music that will add pep to your step and put glide in your stride even if you're sitting down, "The Sting" will do it without seriously raising your blood pressure. Even though the tempos are fast in most songs, it won't make you want to drive any faster or distract you from other tasks.This is my idea of mood music. The songs with clapping and the mute over the trombones give these instrumentals a Roaring 20's or honky-tonk sound that will get your fingers tapping as mine are doing now rhythmically. Nevertheless, Joplin's music is timeless unlike other hits of the era that sound odd or dated. Hearing "Pineapple Rag" while watching my DVD of "Baseball" made me remember how much I missed the music that my father and I listened to all the way to our hometown in PA, and back to New York. (I wonder whatever happened to that eight-track that I'm sure would be worth some serious pennies today)!"The Entertainer," "Easy Winners,"and "Ragtime Dance" make you wish you learned to play the clarinet, the violin, and the piano. (You'd be the life of the party, playing this stuff). I'm at least glad I can play them in my imagination. This is the wonderful effect the score has on your mood and attitude. "Solace" is anything but somber, and is also good for the psyche and your digestion.Try the music. There is very little sting in the price or the sound. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My All Time Favorite Movie!!! *by G***H on July 2, 2012* When the Sting 1st came out, I was Hooked on Hooker & Gaga over Gondorff! My Dad & I went to our local theatre in '73. Full House/Sold Out! Even the balcony was jammed. We laughed,cried,booed cheered & applauded. My Dad whistled & the patrons gave a standing ovation. RARE! Then the soundtrack/45 came out & I wore them out! The Entertainer made M.H. a superstar! Even the Big 89 & WCFL played it! Easy Winners/Hooker's Hooker/Luther/Pineapple Rag/Solace all featured Ragtime Tunes mostly written by Scott Joplin. Marvin was on Tv shows, came out with another LP & I watched Sting hundreds of times at the show,on it's reissue in '77 & now on Cable although I have the DVD &,amazing at it seems, the movie will celebrate it's 40th Year in 2013!!! The LP/CD remind me of the fun times we had at the show.Newman & Redford were just terrific (just like in Butch Cassidy). Can't get enough of THE STING!!! My only complaint: as on the Original LP & now the CD, 1 song is missing. That's the scene when Hooker is being chased by Snyder at the L Station(Filmed in our fare City of Chicago). The tune is called CASCADES (another Joplin ditty). Really wonder why it was cut out of the S.T? Other than that: I LOVE THIS FLICK! Always have.
