Review: Purchased 8 years ago - Got these 8 years ago, have used them ever since, excellent quality with Tidal music at 196KHz. The built in stereo upmixing to 5.1 surround is good - but there is software drivers like SteelSeries Nahimic (on windows) that can do better. Or if you're on Ubuntu you can use pipewire to do upmixing. Works well with the bluetooth audio dongle for friends who come over and want to quickly play their music from their phone - I never use it because the audio quality is far better over analogue direct from my pc. This system has travelled with me from one home, to university, to another home during this time. No issues experienced. So undoubtedly superb value for money, takes about an hour or two to properly setup with nicely done cable management. I will say I have never seen the 'decode' light turn on, perhaps my driver has never needed it when playing a film. Thanks Logitech for making 5.1 surround so easily accessible for a pre-uni student!
Review: Wow, what a great 5.1 Speaker setup the Logitech Z906 is! - I wanted better sound as I have a fairly high quality PC and had recently bought the SoundBlaster AE-5 soundcard to drive better sound which then led to me purchasing these Logitech speakers for a proper 5.1 sound setup. What stopped me was the price but when I saw this on sale, I jumped at it having read other reviews which on the whole were positive. The overall quality is high both of the satellite speakers and the subwoofer. They have great weight about them and look very well made, though the look is always subjective. Setting up the speakers was very simple and it was good that the speaker wires were not proprietary but standard speaker wires should you need any extra length though the length is more than adequate for my room setup. On the rear of the subwoofer are the various connections which include: 2 Digital optical inputs 1 Digital coaxial input Six-channel direct input 1 RCA input You also get a control console which sits on your desk and this has 2 additional inputs one for Headphones and one for the mic in. The control box also allows you to controls which input you currently want to use, effects and has a master volume wheel. You also get a fairly simple remote control that allows you to control all the functions from input selection, volume and effects. Also just to mention, I had no issues setting this up to my Soundcard in the AE-5. Okay finally onto the most important thing, the sound! I am certainly not what you would call an audiophile but I do like to hear great sounds whether it be my music, movies/media and gaming and this is where the Logitech Z906 delivers. I have to admit I was stunned! Coming from a set of fairly decent bookshelf speakers to this setup was an amazing experience. The 5.1 surround sound for my movies was just plain impressive, great full range sound and that surprised me from the satellite speakers and with the base from the subwoofer just adding so much to the overall sound. Yes you can feel the base going through at anything above a certain volume level!!! With 500w on tap the Z906 has more than enough power and actually at full pelt will be way overkill for most rooms. I run it at the mid level at its highest and that is more than enough! Overall it is a great buy and if coupled to a good soundcard or external DAC you will be more than happy. Finding it on sale is a must as then it becomes very good value. Yes I would recommend the Logitech Z906!

**Q: Does this use too much electricity? If i turned the bass off and play on low volume will i save electricity?**
A: Depends what you class as 'too much'. Electricity consumption in the UK is measured in 'units' these are kilo-Watts per hour (1kWh=1 unit). You can check your electricity bill for how much a unit costs; it's probably around 14p. These speakers are rated for 500W of output, and whilst this is theoretically a continuous rating, it's more accurate with consumer speakers as a 'peak' rating. So essentially, a full-spectrum noise (like an explosion) playing at full volume (BEFORE distortion occurs) will use 500w, or 0.5kWh if that noise was continual for an hour. A quieter noise will use less, though there is a law of depreciating returns in effect here (so a noise that you perceive as half as loud will use more than half as much electricity). So in essence, the most these speakers can cost to run is 7p per hour.I have the predecessor to these set up and monitored for consumption (consumption won't really have changed much as speakers don't get more efficient; there are laws of physics at work). I don't ever really turn the volume above 20% or else my housemates/neighbours will complain. It is good to have this headroom though as the fidelity (read: sound quality) of what you're listening to will be much higher in the lower volume range. They use around 2p-3p per hour at this point depending on what I'm listening to.

**Q: Why the price is changing so fast? Yesterday i decided to buy this but today i see the price jumped from 149 to 207 !**
A: It depends on which direction the wind is blowing

**Q: To use this with my TV would I have to buy a separate AV receiver?**
A: No, you can connect the Z-906 via optical/Digital cable. Z-906 has a seperate amp built into the subwoofer. I connect the Z-906 to my playstation and T.V via optical, it works perfect. Hope this helps.

**Q: I own this speaker system, it is incredible. I am just wondering what are the wires that connect from each speaker to the subwoofer called?**
A: The subwoofer has the amplifier built in the box and I believe they just use standard speaker leads just audio lead thats all I know, I will let you know one thing be warned the wires that come with the unit are very short for the rear speakers.  hope this helps.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ sensational piece of kit.

I'm 75 in August, This is third surround sound system I've owned. Believe me people, its bloody awesome. Amazing sound, easy to set up, wonderful to listen too. Busy now buying Blu-Ray movies. In my humble opinion it is absolutely fantastic. So worth the price. Love it. Only downside, as I'm obviously a non worker, I spend all day glued to my 50inch Television watching war movies and the like. Incominnnnngggggggggggg.
