Brought good memories...........
I( would read this book to my Grandson all the time; he and I both loved the story. For Christmas this year, I gave him this book again. When I would read this book to him he was a little boy and now he is 24 years old! At the family Xmas dinner he opened this present and was so surprised to see the book that he loved again. I wrote a message on the front inside cover for him to put this memory on his shelf and some day read it to his little boy or girl and have good memories like we did. It also made this GRANDMA feel real good!!

Great book for easrly readers
Our young grandson, who is in first grade, loved this book. The level was perfect for an early reader. He found the stories fun to read and has reread the book many times.

GREAT STORY AND ILLUSTRATIONS
Grand Kids had me read this again and again at story time.A little "scary" in parts but just a small reminder that it's onlya story was enough for our 2 and 4 year olds.

Highly recommended
These are really fun books for beginner readers. My son is 7 and he's hooked on them. They are all broke down into 3 stories so he can read a little or read cover to cover.

Good Books
This series of books by James Marshall is imaginative with subtle humor in the word play. My sons laughed out loud at the stories when I read them to them, and now my grandsons are enjoying them.

Great Read Aloud.
These stories within a story are enjoyable as a read aloud or for young children who are learning to read. Sam, Spider, and Lolly may be trying to scare a pesky brother away with their scary stories, but this may backfire. I have been reading this book to my students for many years. It never fails to amuse.

Excellent Book
The Lolly, Sam, and Spider stories are some of my favorite books by James Marshall. The independent reading kevel is about beginning second grade. These would also be appropriate for teaching children how to make a story more interesting ( in this book, Lolly, Sam, and Spider tell scary stories to make Spider's little brother Willie go home - the first story is somewhat dull, the next one better, and the third even better, but Willie tells the scariest story of all). My second grade grandson was delighted by this book.

a teacher says....
My students (from pre K to 2nd grade) love to read and especially hear these books when reading with expression! I've even had fourth graders enjoy this as a quick read alound.
