The rim fire doesn't have enough energy to make it spin but does give a good audible report and a bit of movement. When shot with a 9mm it will spin multiple times. My kids won't shoot at paper targets anymore because this target is way more fun. I recommend it for all small arms, .22 up to .45. Hope this helps. **Q: so "no rimfire" due to ricochet or 'lack of spin" ??** A: I would say lack of spin. It's like hitting a solid piece of steel with a small rimfire, but it does move. I play a game of timing to get it spinning with a .22. And keeping it spinning. Larger caliber handguns make it spin quite quickly. Never tried fill size rifle as I'm afraid to blow a hole through it. **Q: Will this target, that says it will take pistol rounds up to .44 magnum, still spin if at 250 yards when accurately shot at with my Howitzer?? !!!** A: I doubt this guy owns a Howitzer. Even if he did, there wouldn't be much of the target left. He was just being sarcastic. **Q: Will this work with a 700fps air rifle? Or is that not enough to turn the targets?** A: I don't want to start a fight over the other answers, but its not so much about caliber as it is about energy when the projectile hits the spinner. A 100ish,(NOT a 10, a 100ish) grain pellet, so like a 45 or bigger caliber, traveling at 700fps should give you the energy of a light 38 special shell, and that should spin it. If you are using something like a 22 cal pellet, it just won't have the energy to move this heavy spinner. IF your gun uses 22cal pellets, your MUZZLE energy at 700fps , firing what, a 10gr pellet, AT THE MUZZLE, is probably producing about 1/3 what a 22 short produces at muzzle. Sorry, I guess that got kinda long. Short answer no, your gun has little chance of working with this spinner, and may not work well with a spinner meant for a 22 rim fire. Get one meant for a pellet gun. Hope that helps! ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐ Do not buy this product if you plan to use 44 magnum *by on Reviewed in Canada 1 January 2023* After 4 shots of 44 magnum hitting the target. The target is badly dented, it twisted the metal plate and the metal frame holding the targets is not very tough material One shot did hit the frame but it's such light weight steel that it couldn't handle the impact. A few more rounds and it will be useless and have to be recycled. Not happy with this product whatsoever. Definitely NOT AS advertised and I was using light factory ammunition so if this was heavy loads it would have completely destroyed the target. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great target (not for high caliber) *by on Reviewed in the United States 28 August 2025* This was a great product for what it’s intended for. All my handguns were great shooting at this target. Anybody who says “my 5.56” or “7.65 rounds blew through the target”, doesn’t know how to read the descriptions. I did shoot 5.56 at 100 yards and was able to destroy the target, and meant to. You can see the 1 big hole in the target that’s 5.56.
