The premium stone bowls are stoneware made from clay. Stoneware is defined as ceramics fired at about 1, 100 °C (2, 010 °F) to 1, 300 °C (2, 370 °F) and glazed. "Stone bowl" Is the common North American name for this type of bowl, directly translated from "dol sot" Bibimbap. | stone bowls are made to be porous to retain heat for a longer time. However, lower quality bowls are permeable to water Also. Dish detergent or other materials can enter and remain in the pores making them unsanitary. **Q: is this made in korea?**
A: Yes, it is made in Korea.

**Q: Can you make crunch rice at the bottom with these bowls and how do you clean afterwards? Thank you.**
A: You can make crunch rice, but the bowl needs to be really hot and the rice needs to be not too moist.  If the rice is too moist, it cools off the bowl before the rice crisps.Since this bowl is thick ceramic instead of stone,it does not hold the heat quite as well, but it is certainly sufficient.I clean mine with vegetable oil and a paper towel just like I do with terra cotta bakeware and cast iron. Food should not stick to it, but if it does, you can use a plastic scraper.

**Q: Can I use on electric stove top?**
A: Long as it's not an induction style cook surface. Then you would need a metal diffuser between the bowl and stove.

**Q: Is this 100% ceramic? Also, what is meant by glaze-fired using natural glaze?**
A: Yes it is 100% ceramics. It is fired at high temperature twice for durability and tolerance toward thermal shock. The glaze is made with a naturally occurring mineral called perlite. Received my pot and it came perfect. No cracks or breaks. It's actually a good size for one or two people. I purchased a smaller pot from a local shop and it's definitely smaller for single serving. Thus pot is beautifully crafted and designed. It is a bit pricey over ones i found in local stores. But I'm still happy with it. Package came in a nice box that makes a great gift to someone.
