Q: should the reed be soaked prior to weaving? The directions don't mention this.

I order this one and soaked the wicker in the sink. It was then pliable and easier to work with. I order another one and did not soak the wicker and it broke in several rows of weaving.

Q: Can this be sealed with acrylic spray?

The basket is made of paper fiber so I think it would work. Let me know how it turns out, I would be interested to know!
