Review: Did I really need it? - Did I really need it? The batteries I have, have a built in protection but I figure better safe then sorry. Was easy to add to the system. Didn't cost all that much, seems to be functioning well and will hopefully extend my battery life.
Review: Outstanding protection and performance! - Really simple to install, and rock solid connections. BE AWARE: When set for Litium Battery this device MUST be used with something like their BMS to disconnect the load.That point wasn't very clear to me in the instruction manual (a case of "reading into" on my part). When I researched the issue on their web site is was explained much more clearly there. I was able to run my LFP battery down to 11V when it was set to cut off at 12V. I was testing it manually and on purpose, so no damage was done. The battery charges just fine even with the load disconnect ciruit open. Was able to burst a 141Amp load through the device without issue (as measured by a BMV 700). This will be my Go-To product for any project requiring battery protection from here on out. Pros: Rock solid build that can physically hold up to the type of cables and connectors that will be used. Set and forget programming. Automatically allows battery to charge when load disconnect circuit is open. LVD can be controlled by other devices, and switch. Cons: Manual Rev08 27-03-2017 doesn't clearly let you know the load will NOT disconnect by itself in Lithium mode. Buzzer and Relay mode state clearly the load WILL be disconnected.

**Q: I have forklift battery 24 volt setup 480 amp what's the number would you recommend to set it up shut down**
A: This can not be used on a forklift. You will need a contactor (relay) capable of handling the full load of the motor, probably many hundreds of amps. That said, the BatteryProtect can trigger a remote relay, but that function would be better accomplished with a battery monitor, like the Victron BMV-700, also connected to a large relay. The battery monitor can also be set to alarm when the battery gets low.

**Q: is this suitable for under hood applications?   Would engine bay temp or damp conditions be an issue?**
A: No. The BP series is not suitable for this purpose.

**Q: I want to use my RV is this a standalone product or does it need another device to input parameters for the battery to shut off at a certain voltage?**
A: This is a programmable low voltage cut off device.  Great for Lithium battery management.  Only shuts off when the battery voltage falls to an assigned level.  Read the brochure on how to set the shut off voltage.  Does not control charging voltage.

**Q: Is there a similar product for overcharge protection?  The charge controller can server as primary disconnect. Need redundant product for backup.**

This product works exactly as advertised. You need to understand this device is to be put in a circuit with loads only. It is not to be used where a charge controller can charge the battery (reverse current). Some devices can produce something called back EMF and they should be avoided as well. Inverters come to mind. I use mine to energize a relay to turn off or on a boost converter. The boost converter 24v charges a solar generator or battery box. The voltage on/off was exactly as described in the manual They could do a better job in the manual describing what devices are allowed downstream.
