It’s not in all pictures, only one…** A: No, it does not come with a ratchet. **Q: So, the obvious question, are impact sockets necessary at the 1/4" size and if so for what use cases and applications?** A: I work with as small a tool as possible for a couple reasons. Less clunky. Ratchet finer teeth. Fits in tighter spaces. I have also discovered battery ratchets. I didn't use air ratchets a lot because I hated the noise. When using power tools, in theory, you should not use chrome tools. They are prone to crack because they are only intended for hand use, and are therefore harder. Given the cost of chrome sockets, you don't want to break them unnecessarily. So, the impact sockets, assuming they are thin enough to fit into the space are a good choice. Neiko seems to have a reasonably thin wall. Snap-on used to describe those as power sockets, to be used with power ratchets. Impact sockets were thicker yet, and designed to be used with impacts. The Neiko seems to be thin, but impact rated. I have been very pleased with this brand. I use the heck out of 1/4" . When that doesn't work, then 3/8". Seldom use 1/2" **Q: What is the difference between the 50 and 54 piece sets?** A: Well, the image does not change when you select the 54 piece. They are always well made, affordable and comparable to tool truck equipment, but without the sizeable price tag. Unlike tool truck impact sockets, these do NOT form any surface rust even after years of being used and sitting in your tool box. I own 4 sets of these, one for home, one for my own personal shop, one for work and a backup, in case I lose a socket (looking at you 10mm and 5/16"). They are strong, fit well on any 1/4" tool whether it be an impact gun, hand tool or extension of any brand. The extension do not twist to any extent that would damage them, and they fit hardware very well and will not damage them, snug while not being too tight as to cause the hardware to become stuck (as long as you use the proper sized socket for the hardware). The walls are decently thick, so sometimes getting them into tight holes can be an issue, but that is standard for pretty much all impact sockets. Hefty without being overly heavy. These are very strong sockets and adaptors, I have never had one break or twist on me, and I have never had to buy a replacement for any damage to the sockets.
