Just pull the handle and open. **Q: do the sparks leave black marks on the concrete** A: Yes it does. The worst marks left by my sons' scooter were on my porcelain floor. Although, they clean fast and fully. There were also black marks left on the sidewalk but because concrete is so unsmooth, the mark is not as bold and noticeable. Those marks also disappeared with rain and usage. None of the marks are permanent.
