Mine only opens and closes when I push the buttons. The sensor does not make it open.** A: There shouldn't be any buttons, there is a sensor in the middle of the front lid rim. With 2 lights on each side that count down when it closes. I just wave my hands over it and it opens, starts to half open when batteries are low.
