A: Yes, smooth.  My kids really liked them.

**Q: Is there suppose to be gaps?**
A: I’m not sure of your question. The 4 large cubes are loosely connected (not as tight as a rubix cube) but don’t have gaps.

**Q: is this brand made with stickers?**
A: I ordered this because of the previous answer, but it is definitely made with stickers and very cheap looking.
