Review: Premium magnet tiles - Having 3 kids, we have gone through many magnet toys, including Magnatiles, Playmags, Magformers, Magna-qubix, Tegu, and now Connetix. I have to say that these are are probably the most expensive set (although we never got Tegu in bulk), but they’re also my favorite. They are the exact same size as the Playmags, but the magnets are much stronger and prettier. They stay and stand up well when building a high wall, while the Playmags have a frustrating tendency to fold in on themselves if not well supported. Overall, I would recommend getting a Playmags 100+ set (~$40) to start to see if kids like this type of toy, and when additional pieces are needed, which they will be, then add 100+ set of connetix ($150). This combination gives you the most variety and bang for your buck.

I bought several of these sets for a birthday and even though it hurt the wallet a bit, they're amazing quality! I really love the pastel colors and the magnet strength is better than the cheaper ones. my boys are consistently surprising me at how creative they are with these and they are used daily -- hours of open ended play the moment they arrived.
