## Description

These self-opening scissors are perfect for anyone working with textiles, as they are great for thread snipping. Yet, their zirconium oxide ceramic blades are stronger than stainless steel. This makes them strong enough to cut lightweight, 8 kg (18 lb), zip ties. The blades on these scissors are sharpened with a unique double-angle grind that results in a finger-friendly edge that is safe to the touch when it comes to incidental contact. Slice tools emphasize safety, but even though you can safely touch the blade edges, they are as sharp as they need to be for their intended cutting tasks. Like any blade, even our safety blades can cut your skin if enough force and acceleration are applied. Exercise the same caution you would use with any blade. A mere 144 mm (5. 68 inches) long and weighing only 24 g (less than an ounce) these self-opening scissors are extremely portable. They’re designed so that the blades are always in the open position. You just squeeze them closed to cut, which requires much less muscle effort than the push-and-pull action required to operate ordinary scissors. This makes them great for those with arthritic hands or other manual dexterity challenges. They have an ambidextrous design that makes them easy to use by either left- or right-handed people. The safety cap keeps the blades closed when not in use, and protects your fingers. Remove the cap and the blades automatically open: they’re ready to make a cut. At the other end of the scissors, there is a lanyard hole, so they can be kept handy by wearing them around your neck. The safety cap fits over the lanyard hole while you are using the scissors, so it doesn’t get lost. The scissors are housed in an extremely strong glass-filled nylon handle. This handle, reinforced with glass fibers, keeps the scissors from being damaged if they are dropped or banged against other surfaces. Their durability makes these scissors an investment in a lifetime of safe cutting.

There are cutting jobs at which it's going to excel, and those that it's not going to do at all. For example, it'll cut thread, string, paper, even light cardboard, with ease, but something like velcro, it won't cut at all. For my purpose, which is light-duty cutting of things on an electronics workbench, it's a nice solution.
