The Strap + PetSTEP ramp work perfectly. My door does not open all the way so I have to use the strap and it does exactly what it's supposed to do; support the corner of the ramp closest to the door hinge.This makes for much easier entry and egress for my black lab who's hurt one of his back legs. Very stable.I am very happy with both purchases. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I never used but like the idea. Test your ramp first. *by J***R on January 1, 2013* I'm glad they make an item for using a ramp with a car. Brilliant idea for car owners with older dogs. I ordered the ramp and the strap at the same time since I thought the strap would be needed. To my surprise the ramp actually worked with my car so I didn't need the strap. When shortly thereafter I bought a new car, the ramp didn't work with the door of the new car. However, I didn't need the strap because the new car was a hatchback and I could load the dog with the ramp from the rear bypassing the door altogether.
