**Q: will this be suitable for tightening a plastic nut on water butt feed hose**
A: It is a plumbers wrench so I have used it on modern plastic plumbing nuts. So it should be fine but take care with water butts as the plastic plumbing pieces are often open to the sun and so can become brittle and less water tight. Tighten with care! A drop of WD40 can often help before you tighten.

Don't be misled by the description: this adjustable spanner has a maximum one-and-a-quarter inch wide grip when the jaws are fully open. The other dimensions are irrelevent. One star deducted for the description. This is much wider than any of my conventional spanners (or wrenches), feels very durable too, with solid grip, and the scale is marked in inches as well as metric. Should do an excellent job. Good value for money (inexpensive but good quality).
