Review: Everybody should read this books so they stop being ignorant of each other and manipulated by the media. Very hard to digest but it's worth the struggle Review: These compilations on the History of Religions around the world are great and very easy to read. They are a must for anyone interested in the subject of comparative religion and mythology and the discovery of the psychological archetypes that are universally found around the world and in all ages. A History of Religious Ideas is written in a very friendly manner and exposes the universal principles of religion in the history of humanity. We will add as a notice that we encountered the 4th volume to this set. The 3rd Volume of this series ends with section 318 which deals with Tibetan Religions. The 4th volume which is originally Geschite der religiosen Ideen, III/2 (and that we have the Spanish translation) goes from Chapter XL to L and continues the 3 Vol. series with the section number of 319. The 4th part of this series deals with religion in Center-America, Taoism, Indonesia, Oceania, Australia, West Africa, East and Central Africa, South American Shamanism, North American Sioux-Oglala religion, Japanese religion, and the secularization in Europe until our times. It seems the original work of Eliade was 440 sections of which the 3 volumes cover 318. There is also the work that is an extension of this compendium which is titled From Primitives to Zen: A Thematic Sourcebook on the History of Religions. These works revolutionize the way we see religion. Eliade, with a historical worldview of religion shows us the reality of "homo religiosus" as Eliade says. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #281,017 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #282 in History of Ideas #1,532 in History of Religion (Books) #2,206 in Theology & Philosophy of Religion | | Book 3 of 3 | History of Religious Ideas | | Country of Origin | India | | Customer Reviews | 4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars (135) | | Dimensions | 23.14 x 15.29 x 2.54 cm | | Edition | Reprint | | ISBN-10 | 0226204057 | | ISBN-13 | 978-0226204055 | | Item Weight | 454 g | | Language | English | | Print length | 372 pages | | Publication date | 1 March 1988 | | Publisher | Univ of Chicago Pr | ## Images ![History of Religious Ideas - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51bqF2KTzYL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review *by C***A on 1 June 2017* Everybody should read this books so they stop being ignorant of each other and manipulated by the media. I ordered this book series from abroad and received it damaged because ARAMEX did not bother with packaging: no box, bubble or cellophane wrapping whatsoever. Not to mention that it arrived a couple of days late. Shame. ## Frequently Bought Together - A History of Religious Ideas, Vol. 3: From Muhammad to the Age of Reforms - A History of Religious Ideas, Volume 1: From the Stone Age to the Eleusinian Mysteries --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pe/products/371548161-history-of-religious-ideas](https://www.desertcart.pe/products/371548161-history-of-religious-ideas) --- *Product available on Desertcart Peru* *Store origin: PE* *Last updated: 2026-10-20*
