I've been using Z Blok for about a year, and I am very pleased with the sun protection. The label claims "clear zinc," "fragrance free," "chemical free," and "SPF30." My lips have never burned or blistered or reacted to the ingredients, so it works great for me. Even though the label says it is clear zinc, it is actually an off-white color that goes on almost clear. Sometimes my lips will look a little pale just after application and in that case I smack my lips together and slide them around a bit to evenly distribute the balm and then the product is clear. The texture (or lip feel) of Z Block makes lips a tad too waxy and thus too tacky for my taste, so I apply a thin coat of Neosporin's Overnight Renewal Therapy over the Z Blok to achieve that perfectly hydrated, moist (but not shiny or slippery), wax-free lip feeling. Typically, I just use this once a day, but if I'm outdoors for an extended period, I will reapply it just to make sure I won't burn...just as I would for SPF30 sunscreen. It's nice that it comes in a 3-pack so that you can keep them on hand wherever you are and it's nice that it is applied directly to the lips...you don't need to clean your finger before dipping it in a tiny tub of lip balm or wipe product out from under your fingernail.
