Even though they are 9mm filters they only seem to fit in Denicotea pipes (as I have many 9mm pipes and they do not fit in any of them - way too tight). For years I used the Dr. Grabow with paper filters but the silica crystals are far superior in removing the excess moisture and tar. These filters are essential if you ever find yourself forced to smoke some of those large plastic bags of drugstore pipe tobacco - which can be somewhat "wet" and sticky from heavy applications of PG. Of course, all filters do slightly reduce the flavor of your tobacco, but I consider it a fair trade-off to produce a more pleasant smoking experience.
