Does it start up slower? Does it hum very loud? Thanks.** A: It will take a few mins to come to full brightness depending on the temp, but it will start. It has an electronic ballast, only magnetic ballasts hum. **Q: Is there pull chain on this light.** A: Yes there is, along with a string. I have all mine plugged into power strips which plug into a switched dual pole outlet. It's nice to flick the light switch on the wall with all the lights coming on. The pull chain allows me to turn off the ones I don't need. For example, when I'm working on the front of the car, I'll turn off the lights at the rear of the car to save energy. **Q: Has anyone had success using led t8 lamps in these? i've tried sylvania and fiet lamps; neither worked and now fixture won't work at all.** A: Haven't tried LED lamps. If the LED T8 lamps purchased are rated to work with florescent fixtures and the type ballast used, it's hard to explain why the fixture isn't working. It appears some LED replacements require removal of the ballast, while others are limited to the type ballast they will work with. You might try a replacement ballast that matches the requirements of LED lamps purchased, or vice-versa.
