handy batch jar for yogurt
I ordered this extra batch jar so I could make more of the yogurt which my family loves so much! The jar is perfectly satisfactory, just like the one that comes with the machine. Both the jar and lid are sturdy and should hold up well. i am very happy with the entire Yogourmet system, and it makes a great product. The extra jar helps me keep up with the demand, and I may need to buy another or two. After all, yogurt is healthy for you. I make mine with artificial sweeteners, which idea some may abhor, and others love...to each his own. :-)

Hands DOWN the only yogurt maker for me (A Greek Woman who LOVES to cook)
Here is what I do to get perfect Greek yogurt every time:In a large pot heat 1/2 gallon whole or 2% milk till just simmering. Take off heat and check temp till it drops to 110 F.In the yogurt container combine and 2 packets yogurt starter, 1 packet fat free POWDERED milk with 2 cups of the 110 degree milk till blended.Slowly add the remaining warm milk, and whisk till combined.Firmly SNAP the smaller lid on the container w/the yogurt mixture.Fill outer yogurt maker container with water to the level marked inside (very little water) and PLUG-IN the machine. (There is no ON/OFF switch)Carefully place yogurt container into outer one. (This is a water bath / Bain Marie)Please large lid over all and set you timer for exactly FIVE hours.Leave the lid ON and cool on counter for 30 minutes.Place in fridge for at least 4 hrs, then ENJOY!TIP: DO NOT OPEN or SHAKE the container while it is working. The yogurt should be chilled before serving.TIP: Save the whey that collects and drink, add to cereal, oatmeal, soups, puddings, a glass of milk or even use to enrich your dog or cat's food. Whey is protein-don't waste it, OK?This keeps for at least 7-10 days-IF it lasts that long. I bought a 2nd container and at times make 2 (1 gal) on a Saturday.I hope this is helpful and that you enjoy your delicious yogurt and also the fact that you saved $$$ by making it yourself!

simple, easy yogurt
this product works very well. I found I need more time than stated in the manual, but once you get the hang of it, it is great. I would have preferred a clear lid to see the thickness without opening it.

We always have a constant supply of yogurt now
We go through a lot of yogurt! I was tickled to have received the ‘Yogourmet Electric Yogurt Maker’ as a gift. By having a second batch jar I can make two ½ gallon batches of yogurt back to back. As soon as the first batch is finished incubating, it’s removed from the electric yogurt maker to cool, and the second batch goes in to incubate. The cooled yogurt is refrigerated overnight then the whey is strained off to make amazing thick Greek yogurt … as good, if not better, than Fage … at a fraction of the price.I’ve been making yogurt for almost 40 years, Greek yogurt for the last five years. This is the third yogurt maker that I’ve owned, and by far my favorite. The extra batch jar is Identical to the one that came with the electric yogurt maker. It’s dishwasher safe & the lid snaps in place securely.I winced at the price, could have lived with out it, but now I’m glad that we bought it and always have a constant supply of yogurt in the fridge.

Extra batch not needed because yogourmet does not work
Yogourmet extra batch jar was not needed because the yogurt maker does not work. The area where you place the yogurt maker must be a steady temperature between 72-76 so that the machine temperature is between 110-120 or something like that. In the summer our house is too warm to make yogurt. I will try again in the winter. A temperature controller would be a great addition to Yogourmet machine. Could not make any yogurt with the machine so the extra batch was not needed.

Extra Batch Jar for the Best Yogurt Maker Ever
I have been making my own yogurt for over 20 years both the old fashioned way and with yogurt makers. This is my third (and probably final) yogurt maker. Not only does it make a full 64 ounces, but it makes the most consistent batches yet. I am also making cheese from some of the large batches. I have found the extra batch jar a handy addition to my yogurt supplies as I can store yogurt in the same container I make it in. Very handy.

Sort of sad that I bought a Yogotherm on Amazon
Sort of sad that I bought a Yogotherm on Amazon, and could not replace the inside trough with the correct size. There is nothing wrong with this product, but it is too small for the Yogotherm, and Amazon appears not to carry the correct replacement size.

love the maker but..
We have used our yogourmet yogurt maker 1-2 times every week for 14 years. We recently purchased two extra batch jars to replace the original. Unfortunately, the new jars are lighter weight and the lids fit VERY poorly. This makes it very tricky to lift the batch jar out of the maker and can easily result in your wonderful yogurt landing all over the kitchen floor. One of the two new batch jars is out of round, so the lid really does not fit at all - it just rests on top. But the yogurt is still good - we just have to be really, really careful how we lift the jar up.
