This bra gives the firm support and uplift of an underwire without sacrificing shape. The minimization is more in firm shaping than reducing. The best part of this bra is that the band doesn’t roll, bunch or dig. It feels as good at the end of the day as it did at the beginning. As far as band size goes… I measured first to be sure of no changes and ordered accordingly. I also tried the same size in vanity fair and while this bra was perfect the vanity fair was too tight. My conclusion is that the fit is reasonably true. I did have to look up my sister size because I have lost weight and my band size is now smaller than the last time I bought bras. When that happens you don’t necessarily lose cup volume so your cup size may actually go up as your band size goes down. So, for example, I went from a 42D to a 40 DD to a 38 DDD.
