It's too slippery to use tongs and I'd rather not dip my fingers in the brine.** A: Get a canning kit. They include large tongs and other useful canning items that can pull the weight out or a slotted soup spoon that fits in the jar opening. **Q: These can't be boiled for sanitation?** A: I usually put mine in the dishwasher.
