It's sturdy but also very soft under the fabrics you are embroidering. It's cut away, but on my smaller (non-clothing) projects like pillows, bags, mug rugs, etc. I'll just leave the whole piece there instead of cutting around the design. There's no rough or stiff feeling when using this. Because it's so soft it's great when embroidering on clothing - although I will also use a layer of the over-the-back interlinking so the design is nice a comfy net to the skin.This comes in regular and adhesive. I rarely use adhesive backed stabilizers, but it does work fine - just not my preference. I'd rather use the non-adhesive.
