It is very sturdy hard plastic, steel pins are used in the hinges, the latches, and the handle. There are reviews that state the knob on front of case is a vent, which I suppose it is, but there is no opening and closing it, it is installed for no vent, or completely removed for a vent. Interior dimensions are 13" X 9&3/4" X 2&3/4". There is a a base foam approx 3/4", and a piece of pull & pluck approx 2", and a contoured piece of foam in lid. Plus it has two very sturdy set of holes to lock with padlock. Handle is very heavy & sturdy. Gave an average review for water resistance since I have no need nor desire to submerge this case, but it does have a gasket recessed in groove in lid, that appears to be very well made and very soft, I confident it would do well, if case were dropped in water, doubt that it would do good being continuously submerged. I have a much larger case that is very durable and well built, this one could hang with it it NO problem. When the need arises for another case i WILL NOT hesitate to purchase another AxiGear waterproof hard case.
