You can press and hold the start button for three seconds and the timer will stop the countdown and reset itself back to the beginning. Please note do not apply hard pressure on the button, soft pressure will work just fine. **Q: Can it be used an it be used in a pool?** A: It is supposed to be water proof. I had a friend who ran hers through the washer and it worked fine after. And I don't worry about it when I'm in the rain. But I have no experience with using it while it is actually being immersed in water. I've dropped it a couple of times and it didn't crack!
