There a couple of ways to teach organic chemistry; I think this book is the best book on introductory organic chemistry I've seen. Problems are presented in a continuous fashion via "skill builder" examples as you read along. With the emphasis on the chemical bonding structure of organic molecules, a very large number of figures are presented. There is a very large number of figures and diagrams that are colored so that the reader can clearly see the shapes of different types of bonds and where the molecule has polar (or charged) bonds. The explanations of the concepts are clear and concise. At the end of each chapter more problems are presented in the traditional fashion.I highly recommend purchasing the Student Study Guide and Solutions Manual because you need to do the problems to understand the subject matter. For technical/math subjects, I usually recommend that students get a copy of Schaum's Outline to supplement a science/math text book. In this case - this is the better option because the problems are specific to the text. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Best O chem book around *by J***E on Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2014* This is probably one of the best O chem textbooks I've found. The topics are explained succinctly but with enough depth to convey the knowledge well and the practice problems in the book are a perfect way for students to learn the material by doing it. If you're going to get this i highly recommend that you also get the solution manual to with it because if you're going to do any of the problems in the book, its good to be able to check your answers.This is a great textbook whether or not you have a good professor or not. You can learn everything you're going to need to know from the book alone if you had to and its fairly well written and well structured. Combined they are excellent coverage of the topics. I also used Kleins Ochem as a second language. I taught myself Ochem using the textbook and solutions manual, which you will probably have to because most Ochem teachers are terrible.
