I took apart the filter before I installed a new one and I saw the material it's made of. The outside filter material is a simple sediment filter material and then inside is a compacted carbon cylinder and in the middle is ion exchange beads . The filter does a good job of removing chlorine and chemicals taste from water. My water tasted as good as bottles water now in my opinion.
